There are few programs that open your eyes to the potential within your organization—the Lean series at UNM is one of those programs. From basic skills to practical application, the knowledge transfer from Randy Simons is a valuable experience sprinkled with pearls of wisdom, both in theory and application.
This great opportunity is made possible through the collaboration between CNM Ingenuity and the City of Albuquerque. Job Training Albuquerque (JTA) is a workforce development program that provides opportunities for the local workforce to gain necessary skills in order to fill skill gaps and meet the workforce needs of existing and potential employers.
Randy Simons is a retired Director of Generation Services from the Public Service Company of New Mexico (PNM), where he managed Fuels, Water, Regulatory Matters, and Technical Training. He also served as Director of Management Systems, overseeing enterprise-wide process improvements, balanced scorecards, and policy management.
Before PNM, Mr. Simons held leadership roles at Honeywell and Motorola, working as Engineering Manager and Operations Manager. He is certified as a Honeywell Lean Expert, Motorola Six Sigma Black Belt, and has Kepner-Tregoe Project Management training.
Currently, Mr. Simons teaches Practical Project Management and Lean Principles for the University of New Mexico’s Continuing Education. He is the founder of Aspen Creek Consulting, LLC, where he helps organizations improve business performance, and serves as Board Chair of the Albuquerque Quality Network while sitting on the UNM Anderson School Alumni Council.
